![]() ON THE NEEDS OF VISUAL ARTISTS: A ROUNDTABLE 2001On March 19, 2001, The Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation co-sponsored with The Judith Rothschild Foundation a discussion "On the Needs of Visual Artists: A Roundtable 2001" hosted by Artists Space in New York City. The Artists Advisory Committee consisting of Cynthia Carlson, Chuck Close, Janet Fish, Philip Pearlstein, Irving Sandler, Harriet Shorr, Robert Storr and new member Lorna Simpson planned the roundtable to include 33 artists from around the country in a dialogue concerning the needs of artists today. A publication resulted from the roundtable. Two very successful projects came from proposals initiated at the original round-table hosted by The Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation in 1988: the Visual Artist Information Hotline and The Studio Space Program. In addition, the publication "A Visual Artist's Guide To Estate Planning" which was the summary of that roundtable discussion was widely distributed and proved valuable to many other groups.
